DEFINITION
Facial lymphatic drainage is a lymphatic drainage massage performed on the face and neck. One third of the lymphatic nodes are placed around this area. It has numerous benefits for the health and beauty of the facial skin.
This method works to eliminate toxins from the face, increasing blood circulation, preventing ageing signals (like wrinkles) and helping to improve the appearance of dark circles and eye bags. It promotes collagen production and helps improve the body's immune system.
During this 45-minute treatment, we stimulate the vagus nerve area, which helps to control our mood, digestion, immune response, and the rhythm of our heart. This also reduces inflammation and can help aid anxiety.
One technique used during facial lymphatic drainage is a Buccal massage (a massage inside the mouth). Our physiotherapeutic background allows us to understand the facial anatomy to best treat muscles in and around the face, in particular around the lower jaw. This massage relieves jawline tension, and can help reduce bruxism (grinding teeth) and migraines.
Facial lymphatic drainage can:

- Promote the reduction of acne;
- Combat dark circles;
- Soften expression lines and wrinkles;
- Reduce bruising;

Facial lymphatic drainage is especially recommended for rejuvenation, better appearance of the face, patients in the postoperative period from a facial surgery, since it will help to speed up recovery, acting on the normal effects of the surgery, such as bruises, edema and puffiness.
Facial Lymphatic Drainage
Post-operative patients are highly recommended to have facial lymphatic drainage following facial surgery, as it will help to speed up your recovery and reduce bruising, oedema and puffiness. Note, no buccal massage will be performed post-surgery.
For optimal results we recommend post-surgical patients book the RECOVERY EXPERT package, which is a specialised approach to treat all occurrences related to surgery, from scar tissue to range of movement.
