What is lymphatic Drainage?

Lymphatic Drainage consists of gentle, repetitive strokes to facilitate the lymphatic system. Often referred to as a ‘detox massage’, it is a specialised massage that supports your body’s internal filtration system to keep your immune system in check. 

How it works?

It works by stimulating the lymphatic glands using massage to drain the excess fluid from the body, directing it back into the bloodstream where it can then be flushed out through your kidneys.

How long does it take?

A body session is 55 minutes whilst the face is 45 minutes.

Is it recommended for bloating?

Yes. Flavia’s Lymphatic Drainage method helps with a number of different digestive issues. It calms inflammation and helps bloating to be reabsorbed into your bodies system and tracked back out again.

Is it recommended to Lymphedema?

Studies have shown Lymphatic drainage is highly recommended whilst experiencing lymphoedema or as a preventative measure. A study conducted in America showed that 45% of mastectomy patients will get lymphoedema fifteen years after lymph node removal. Lymphatic drainage encourages lymph fluid to move away from the swollen area so it can drain normally and helps control swelling. 

Is it recommended to CFS or Fibromyalgia?

Lymphatic drainage works to improve circulation and blood oxygenation, in turn this can have a relaxant effect, which can assist with some of the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia.

How long the results last?

Results can last up to 10 days, depending on your metabolism and lifestyle

How many sessions are recommended?

Results are noticeable are just one session, however for detoxing we recommend at least once a month. For pregnancy or post partum, we recommend once a week or every other week. For water retention, weight loss and cellulite, metabolism, circulation and digestion issues, it is recommended every week. Sessions should be daily for a course of 10 days if you are post-surgery. 

How should I prepare my treatment?

For the Flavia method, no preparation is required. We only recommend to avoid heavy meals 45 minutes prior to your session. 

Is Lymphatic Drainage painful?

Lymphatic drainage performed correctly should not be painful. The Flavia Method works deep in the tummy (provided you are post-op or pregnant), which can sometimes cause slight discomfort. 

Can I workout after?

Yes, definitely, the session will certainly leave you feeling more energised. However, we do recommend it after the workout, as it can ease post-workout body aches and pains. 

What are the side effects?

The side effects are minimal however you are likely to feel thirstier. So up water intake to prevent any headaches. 

How much water do I need to drink?

According to scientific studies, your water intake is very personal to your body and weight. It is recommended to drink 0.035ml of water per Kg of your body weight. Example: 60Kg person needs 2.1L of water daily.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Lymphatic drainage is actually highly recommended during pregnancy. It can help to relieve heavy legs and improves blood quality for both mum and baby.

How long after having a baby is it safe to have lymphatic drainage?

It is safe straight after a normal delivery and 14 days after a C-section.

It is safe in early pregnancy?

Lymphatic drainage is recommended in any stage of pregnancy. However, we wouldn’t recommend in high-risk pregnancies’ or when suffering extreme morning sickness. 

What are the benefits post-surgery?

Lymphatic drainage is highly recommended after surgeries because it improves circulation, draining away toxins and dead cells, maximising nutrition for faster and improved recovery. It is effective in preventing fibrosis and eliminates bruises and swelling quicker.

How long after a surgery it is recommended?

It is recommended straight after surgery (after discharge) and every day or every other day, for a course of 10 days.
